Charts: Ashes to Ashes [PS3]

Monday August 17, 11:23 AM Charts: Ashes to Ashes

A second innings for Codemasters’ excellent bat ‘em up, Ashes Cricket 2009, this week. Meanwhile Wii Sports Resort and Wii Fit remain rooted to the spot.

But that’s not to say the UK all formats/full price chart is completely bereft of excitement. Heck, no. In fact there’s a grand total of two brand new entries on this week’s countdown – and one of them has even broken into the top ten too.

That honour belongs to the latest, most scarily photo-realistic outing in the EA’s evergreen Madden NFL series – this year’s iteration has debuted at a respectable number seven. After that, by some distance, is ‘Active Health with Carol Vorderman’ new in at this week’s 26. And, er, that’s your lot.

Seriously. Pretty much everything else is either stuck in place or ever so slightly shuffled. One thing we’ve just noticed, though – GI Joe is completely missing from the chart. As far as we can see it has never actually placed in the all formats top 40 either. That’s a remarkable feat for a summer blockbuster movie-licence, but all the more bizarre for an EA published title. Thing is, it’s not actually that bad a game. Go figure...
