Quite apart from tantalising us with the now-impossible-to-find Modern Warfare 2: ‘Prestige’ Edition (the one with the night vision goggles) Activision and Microsoft have just unveiled a limited-run Modern Warfare 2-themed Xbox 360 console. And this one’s a bit more special than the ‘Elite’. What are we looking at here? Well, for starters, you’ll only be able to buy the new 360 variant through Game and Gamestation outlets – either will do, since they’re both part of the same company. Next up, this is more of a bundle than a standalone console, featuring an Xbox 360 headset, not one but two wireless controllers and a copy of Modern Warfare 2. Then we get to the properly good stuff... You see, the Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition console doesn’t just feature a natty ‘warzone’ livery – think the Xbox 360 Elite’s moody paintjob plus some stencilled numbers and daubs of militaristic grey paint – but it also packs a 250GB hard drive under the hood, giving you more than twice the storage capacity to clutter-up as you see fit. All your Modern Warfare 2 save-games aside, the expanded hard drive will surely come in handy as some of the 360’s new features come online (Facebook, Last.fm, Sky TV etc). Needless to say it all comes at a premium – Xbox LIVE’s Major Nelson has already announced it’ll cost $399 in North America. A UK price is still TBC but we’d reckon on £250 or thereabouts. Meanwhile a November 10 launch, timing with the arrival of the big game itself, has been confirmed. Tempted...?
