Ultra-violent Wii game from SEGA

Friday May 16, 11:31 AM Ultra-violent Wii game from SEGA

At the opposite end of the spectrum, as far as you can go, from “Wii Sports” and “Endless Ocean” there’s now “Mad World”…

Next up from SEGA, publisher of the family-favourite Sonic & Mario at the Olympic Games, is a couple of extremely violent and very bizarre games for Nintendo Wii and PS3/Xbox 360. Mad World and Bayonetta are so violent, in fact, that we can’t show them in action here on Yahoo!. We can talk about them though.

First up is Mad World for Wii, being directed by ex-Resident Evil 4 team member Shigeru Nishikawa. The action is presented in Sin City style, comic-book black and white. Its hero has a chainsaw built onto his right arm and the ensuing gore is depicted in thick crimson red. He’s also handy with the spiky end of a stick, providing headaches all round. Mad World probably equals Man Hunt 2 for brutality, and apparently this game is being targeted at the West, in fact unlikely to be released in Japan where it is being developed. This is what the Japanese think we enjoy? They’ll be throwing raw meat our way next.

Less gory but more extravagantly violent is Bayonetta, directed for PS3 and Xbox 360 by ex Devil May Cry staffer Hideki Kamiya. It features a sexy ‘Witch Battling Angel’ with revolvers attached to her stiletto heels. She uses these to shoot off the heads off rival Witch Battling Angels. We enjoyed the Devil May Cry series, so maybe this will make sense when we get our hands on it. Meanwhile, err…

Finally something more palatable for Nintendo DS, because we guess violence just doesn’t cut it on this cute console no matter how hard you try. Infinite Line, then, is a clever sci-fi role-playing game that casts you in the role of Starship Captain, rather like Kirk or Picard in Star Trek. You’ll be responsible for the ship and its crew, and the screenshots suggest that space battles will take up much of your time, accruing experience points to improve the power of the spaceship and abilities of the shipmates.

Sega recently presented all three games to the UK press, and so we can only assume that all three are heading to Blighty quite soon. However no release dates have so far been announced.
