If a recent US games retailer’s product schedule is correct it looks like Electronic Arts could be on the verge of breaking the habit of a lifetime and releasing its own retro games compilation for PSP. This story emanates from US games retail behemoths, Gamestop, who have an intriguing PSP game called ‘EA Replay’ on their radar. Now retailer schedules are notoriously inaccurate in terms of release dates and, occasionally, a game’s very existence too. Nevertheless there’s rather a lot of information about this one – price, release date and what it comprises – so we’re hoping it turns out to be kosher. Here’s what’s supposed to be on board: B.O.B Hmm, well that’s the very definition of a mixed bag isn’t it? They were all considered to be very decent games back in their days, though – which ran from ‘90 to ’95, by the way. Our picks would have to include the good-but-overlooked robo-platformer B.O.B, the motorsikkles n’ violence Road Rash series, the Bladerunner-esque Syndicate (by Peter Molyneux’s old company, Bullfrog, no less) and just ‘cos we like flying around in helicopters shooting things, good old Jungle/Desert Strike. However they’re all top in their own rights and not one of ‘em is a sports license or movie tie-in either, which is really saying something for EA! US gamers can apparently look forward to the title on October 3rd, and for around $30. Meanwhile there’s no sign or confirmation of EA Replay in the UK just yet, but rest assured we’re on the case and will let you know in due course.
