Microsoft in the US has spilled some beans on what to expect from the block ’n’ roll game due later this year for consoles.

We’re already warming to the outlandish premise of LEGO Rock Band. Why stop at the world when you can become the hottest band in the universe?! Xbox.com has more details this morning on some of the gameplay features we can look forward to in the Xbox 360 edition.

Our favourites so far are the mini-games that include battling monsters, summoning storms and tearing down skyscrapers using “the power of rock”! But we also like the sound of building bigger and better tour buses out of LEGO bricks earned after each song, and the idea of furnishing your very own LEGO ‘rock den’ with accessories. Don’t forget this game lets you customise not just the band but your entire road crew and, well, groupies. But they don’t call them that, they’re called your ‘entourage’…

A toned down difficulty setting should ensure than nobody sits out the next song when it’s their turn. All in all LEGO Rock Band is looking to be a hit in the making. As far as we know the game will be clicking into place on Wii, Xbox 360, PS3 and PS2 in time for Christmas.
