Bionic Commando: Rearmed patched and trophied [X360]

Friday June 19, 8:12 AM Bionic Commando: Rearmed patched and trophied

Bionic Commando: Rearmed is getting the patch and Trophy treatment, says Capcom.

It’s all for the good of the game, we’re assured. Firstly, the Easy and Normal difficulty modes have been tweaked, making them, er, easier and more accessible for normal people. If you’ve already eaten your joypads in frustration at playing this excellent but oh-so unforgiving retro remake you’ll appreciate how significant this one is. Masochists will be pleased to know that the Hard and Super Hard options remain unchanged, though.

Next up, the Super Joe Machine Gun has been debugged to improve its ammo-carrying and damage-dealing capabilities. And finally, the PS3 version of the game gets Trophies. A scant reward for all the tears and tooth-gnashing, but better than nothing, eh.

Other tweaks are as follows:

• If you die, you will respawn at the last solid ground you stood on, or the last checkpoint.
• Unlimited Lives!
• If you hook to a point and you realise that your line is too short to get you where you need to go, you can hit a button and reel your line out.
• If you swing into a wall while still hooked, you will no longer bounce off of the wall, disconnect, and hopelessly fall do your spikey death. Instead, you will bounce off of the wall, stay connected, and reel in.

All of the above, apart from the Trophies, will be applicable to both the 360 and PS3 versions of the game. Keep an eye out for an update on Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network arriving soon. Now all we need is a patch to make the next-gen re-imagining of Bionic Commando fun to play...!
