Sony UK’s semi-official PS3 blog, Threespeech, shuts down for good on April 17th. In its place a brand new and apparently “shiny” official EU Playstation blog.

“It’s your feedback, comments and suggestions that have made this possible, so you should all be very proud!” begins the announcement at Threespeech.com.

“Obviously both Three Speech and SCE UK are very grateful to everyone who has made this site so busy and lively over the past two and half years. Your input has really helped PlayStation to grow, and the new blog will be a further way for you to contribute ideas. It’s been good fun meeting all of you and we’re looking forward to seeing you on the EU blog!

Casual misuse of exclamation marks aside, we’ll be rather sorry to see the back of good old Threespeech. We never really bought its claims of impartiality and semi-independence but it was frequently a good source of info and was written without ever feeling too corporate. And that’s no mean feat where commercial communications are concerned…

But onwards and upwards etc, and if the new EU blog follows in the footsteps of its official US counterpart - i.e. in breaking lots of killer insider-sourced exclusives - this is probably a good thing.
