Sony to digitise old PSP games [PSP]

Friday June 5, 8:51 AM Sony to digitise old PSP games

Are you worried what’s to become of your old PSP games once you’ve upgraded to the digital download-only PSP Go!? Fear not, Sony is working on a solution.

"We are looking into programs for owners who have previously purchased UMD titles and want to exchange them for digital versions," Sony's Brian Keltner tells Kotaku. "It's something we are still hammering out the details. As soon as we have solid plans in place we will make an announcement."

We’re guessing that Sony means some sort of exchange service rather than any kind of software that allows users to digitise their own collections – what with all the jolly roger piracy opportunities that would inevitably entail.

It’s not clear whether such a service would even be free, either. That said, in an interview with Gizmodo, Sony’s John Koller calls it a “good will program”, which rather suggests that you won’t be asked to part with any extra cash. Quite right too!

So, there you go. Good old Sony is working on a solution for potential PSP Go! upgraders. You are planning to upgrade, aren't you?
