When it comes to next-gen hardware price and release date information we’ve been lead up the garden path a few too many times recently – internet rumour-believing chumps that we are! Thus it is with a large pinch of salt on the tips of our tongues, which are themselves planted firmly in our cheeks that we await an announcement from Nintendo which is scheduled for the back end of next week. Could this be the final, final big Wii reveal? Well, it has all the makings of something large given the tantalising language being bandied about – and by Nintendo themselves… First up Nintendo is holding a large event in Japan on September 14th, which is to be followed by similar happenings in the US and Europe on the 15th. Nintendo, as per flipping usual, is playing cat and mouse (we’re the mice, by the way) about what, exactly is going to be revealed at these events. However our invitation specifies a whole afternoon in their very pleasant company so we do not think it’s just going to be more about the un-hotly anticipated ‘English Training: Have Fun Improving Your Skills’ on DS (more on that later!). Indeed no, for Nintendo is promising boldly that “All of you will be excited, intrigued and interested in what we have to show you. This is an event you must not miss. Wii promise.” Blimey! An event that we “must not miss... Wii promise”? Furthermore bear in mind that we’ve already had an extensive post-E3 Wii hands-on. In other words it’s unlikely that they’re going to be merely showing off the hardware all over again. Well, we hope not anyway. Either way be sure to tune in on the afternoon of the 15th when we’ll give you the full lowdown, which will hopefully include the European release and pricing info. Can’t wait!
