A newly posted video on the official US PlayStation blog explains changes that are a-coming to the way Trophies can be viewed and enjoyed online.

The new changes form part of an update to the PlayStation.com website and will be implemented soon. Meanwhile the changes themselves, as far as we can see, make the whole Trophy system more like Xbox Achievements and Xbox LIVE than ever before. Hey, maybe imitation really is the sincerest form of flattery after all!

Anyhoo, here are those enhancements:

• View detailed info on your trophies on PlayStation.com
• Compare your trophies with multiple friends and other PSN ID’s
• Compare details on trophies within each game
• Track your progress to the next level against friends
• See what trophies you have and what you still need to unlock for each game
• Use the sorting features to plan your game domination

On top of all that your portable PSN ID will soon carry Trophy data, so you’ll be able to show off your videogaming prowess – or utterly humiliating lack thereof – on social networking and other third-party sites.
