Modern Warfare 2 downloads announced [X360]

Friday August 7, 12:15 PM Modern Warfare 2 downloads announced

Modern Warfare 2 is still months away but Activision is already talking up the downloadable extras in store.

According to Activision’s publishing bossman Mike Griffith two downloadable map packs are planned for the game post-launch. And that, by our reckoning, is one less than has been produced for Call of Duty: World at War. Griffith also notes that more than eight million COD map packs have been downloaded across Xbox 360 and PS3 to date. Ker-ching.

Modern Warfare itself hits the shelves on November 10th and looks set to exceed all previous outings by some distance. Alas the same applies price-wise too (rrp £54.99), and don’t even get us started about those limited edition ‘Hardened’ and night vision goggle-equipped ‘Prestige’ edition packs.

A trio of questions, then. Why is such an awesome looking game only scheduled to receive two map packs when its predecessor got three; is two map packs going to be enough to satisfy your eager demands and will Activision cost ‘em to match the full game’s lofty price tag? Lordy, we hope not!
