Leipzig: Warhawk goodies incoming [PS3]

Thursday August 21, 02:21 PM

Next week’s going to be a blast for fans of top-quality PS3 multiplayer shooting action – a new Warhawk expansion pack and a free software update bringing trophies, training modes and much more. Big up the Sony massive, etc.

First things first, then, and the ‘Operation Fallen Star’ expansion pack arrives on 28th August – next Thursday. The third Warhawk add-on to date, the action in Fallen Star includes ten detailed battlefields spread around the Tau Crater, where a Chernovan warship has crash landed. It’s a case of fighting to see who can salvage the wreckage first. Not that you’ll need much excuse for a full-on barney, or to don the infantry jetpacks which feature heavily in the fracas. Sony (typically) hasn’t announced a price yet but we’d reckon on a piffling £3.99, this being the same as the last two expansion packs.

In advance of all this budget-priced hilarity PS3 owners should avail themselves of the v1.5 software update. Foremost among its many features are 56 Trophies to collect, the ability to add your own music to the proceedings, a pretty useful tutorial system for newbies (or cack-handed veterans – ahem) and a collection of new user-created paint jobs and team insignia. The update is free, gratis and costs precisely nought pence so it’d be kind of rude not to download it, don’t you think? August 27th is the date for your Hello Kitty personal organiser. Don’t pretend you haven’t got one...
