Sony and Namco Bandai have formed a partnership called Cellius Inc. to develop Cell-specific content for PS3, mobile phones and PC. Namco Bandai and Sony have formed a new company to develop new entertainment content specifically for Sony’s Cell Broadband Engine, most famously associated with PlayStation 3. The alliance will be known as Cellius Inc., in which Namco Bandai owns a 51 percent share with Sony holding the remaining 49 percent. Cellius Inc will begin operating from 6 March. The new company will be led by Namco Bandai’s Isao Nakamura (Ridge Racer series), while Sony’s Ken Kutaragi (a.k.a. The Father of PlayStation) is named as one three company directors. An official statement is on Namco Bandai’s Japanese homepage this morning. The move has been seen as a strategic ploy to combat the growing success of Nintendo Wii and Microsoft’s Xbox 360.
