Guitar Hero II’s hardly had time to gather dust but details of #III’s tracklist are already filtering onto the web, including the announcement that one of Punk rock’s crown jewels has been specially re-made by the original artistes.

We’re talking the landmark meisterwerk that is ‘Anarchy in the UK’ and incredible/desperate as it may seem, the Sex Pistols have been persuaded to park their mobility scooters and return to the studios to re-record their controversial 1976 smasheroo.

But credit to ‘em, they’re going for 100% authenticity all the way – John Lydon (i.e Johnny Rotten, to your dad) and former sidekicks Steve Jones (banjo) and Paul Cook (spoons) have teamed up with original producer Chris Thomas and have used the same analogue equipment as built for George Martin at London’s famous Air Studios. Er, wow. So set aside the fact that the Pistols are now well into their 50s and this track should sound pretty much tip-top.
