The latest Media Create figures show that Japan is just as crazy for Nintendo formats as the rest of us… Needless to say it’s the recently launched DSi leading the bunch, shifting 126,648 in the week ending December 7th. That’s up by more than 45% on the previous week’s sale and, unsurprisingly, rather shades the efforts of all other competitors. In fact most other console sales seem to be falling backwards when they really should be heading in the opposite direction. Except the good old Wii which is up around 8K and, perversely, the PS2 which has enjoyed a whopping 2 (count ’em!) percent sales resurrection thanks to the Japanese gaming public’s enduring (and unaccountable) affection for angry anime teens. But it takes all sorts, doesn’t it, so here are those figures. Hardware chart first, previous week/lifetime sales after the slash as usual: DSi - 126,648 / 87,185 1.
