Activision and Microsoft stand back to back, inviting Xbox Avatars to rock on stage with Guitar Hero 5 from launch on 1 September.

Sadly no such opportunities for Nintendo Miis or PlayStation Home, and you have to wonder why not. Maybe this will be coming soon? Whatever, right now – or from 1 September that is – Guitar Hero 5 will let Xbox 360 gamers upload their personalised Avatars into the game to perform with the band. This means sharing the stage with GH characters Lars Ümlaüt, Judy Nails and Axel Steel. It also means your little guy can be standing next to Carlos Santana or Johnny Cash.

Brilliant, no?

There’s an exclusive Xbox 360 Create-A-Rocker mode too, with exclusive Guitar Hero clothing and accessories for Avatars to climb into. All of this is pretty darn good for a freebie right out of the box. Xbox 360 gamers must be wetting their pants. That’s if their jeans are not too tight.
