Codemasters’ Ashes Cricket 2009 has veritably stormed the top of the all formats/full price chart this week. Gosh, who knew etc. Well, the way things are going in the real-world tournament playing its virtual equivalent might be the only way to gain any kind of national pride-restoring satisfaction. Meantime Ashes 2009 hasn’t just hit Wii Sports Resort for six, it’s become Codemasters’ first all-format’s chart-topper since Brian Lara Cricket 2005 and they, in turn, have become the first UK publishers to claim the top spot since Eidos managed the same feat with Battlestations Midway back in 2007. More impressive, Ashes 09 has outsold its Lara-starring predecessor in its opening week by almost three to one. Oh, and it’s the only new entry until Overlord II pops up at this week’s 34. And that means that the rest of this week’s top ten is largely unchanged. Barring, that is, the reappearance of Mario Kart Wii at eight and the impressive ascension of G-Force, which scuttles from 23 to this week’s nine. Everything else is either where it was seven days ago or near as damn. As you’ll see below: 1. Ashes Cricket 2009 (NE) Leisure software charts compiled by Chart Track, ©2009 ELSPA Ltd
