Batman pulls a Guinness [X360]

Friday August 28, 11:47 AM Batman pulls a Guinness

A timely one, this – Batman: Arkham Asylum has just scooped a prestigious Guinness World Record for being the “Most Critically Acclaimed Superhero Game Ever”.

We don’t imagine that there’s too much competition in this somewhat contrived category – moreso since such a large proportion of other superhero games suck (including a fair few old Batman games). But props all the same to the Dark Knight and to Brit developers, Rocksteady Studios, for doing such a sterling job. Read all about it in our 5/5 review.

We’re not alone in our unfaltering praise either. The game’s been picking up stratospheric scores all over the place. Metacritic.com has aggregated 37 reviews to deliver an average of 91% for both Xbox 30 and PS3 versions. This includes a pair of 100% marks from Gamespy and ZTgamedomain.com, a 96 from Games Master, a fistful of 95s from the likes of Game Informer and the Official Xbox Magazine and a gushing 9/10 from the usually stringent Eurogamer. In fact the worst score we could find was an 8/10 from Total Video Games, and they still loved it.

Getting the message yet? Batman: Arkham Asylum is an instabuy masterpiece, deserving of a place in everyone’s collection – including yours. It’s out today too. But enough recommendation, just go get it!
