This year the legend goes Lego’ as the makers of Lego Star Wars get to re-constructing the first three movies as zany console games. Here’s Indiana Jones as you’ve never seen him before, and in more ways than one. Lego Indiana Jones: The Videogame (working title) will reinvent the character made famous by Harrison Ford purely in Lego, and with whacky alternative takes on his most famous cinematic scenes. Production is being handled by Traveller’s Tales, the team behind the uproariously funny and tirelessly inventive Star Wars Lego series. LucasArts and TT have only suggested that Lego Indy is whip-cracking into action for consoles in 2008, but we suspect there will be a PC version too. While the new Indiana Jones movie (again starring Harrison Ford) is in production for release in 2008, the game will only focus on Indy’s first three adventures: Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. The trailer, which can be viewed at http://www.lucasarts.com/games/legoindianajones/, is a rib-tickling sign of things to come; Indy being pursued by a boulder made of Lego or producing a rubber ducky from his khakis and giving it a squeeze to the bemusement of his foes. The LucasArts announcement, which appeared on the official website late Friday night, also says that a range of Lego Indiana Jones playsets will be released starting January 2008. So far Lego Indiana Jones: The Videogame (working title) does not have a street date.
