WiiSpace? That’s one way of looking at it. Nintendo just set up MyWiiStory.com for Wii owners to share their Wii related tales.

“Every Wii owner has a unique Wii story to tell”, says Nintendo. And they don’t mean the time you spent queuing up to buy one, or how that remote (allegedly) broke the telly. Nintendo says that the new website MyWiiStory.com has been established for Wii owners to talk about how Wii enriches their lives. So, it’s a Wii-theme online community where you can share photos and videos with like-minded individuals.

This strikes us as weird, given the whole idea of Wii is for folks not to sit hunched over keyboards. Truth is that any contribution you make helps Nintendo’s marketing division maintain the happy lifestyle image of Wii versus the military might of Xbox 360 and expensive multimedia confusion of PS3. In fact, don’t just take our word for it, here’s George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications, explaining what MyWiiStory.com is all about:

"We want all Wii owners to go to MyWiiStory.com to further demonstrate the extent to which we have brought new players into the world of video games."

There’s a hefty sign-up process involved, which is understandable given the audience involved. But you may feel it’s worthwhile if Wii has become something of a life-saver in recent times and wish to evangelise the whole experience.
