Tekken 6 and Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny confirmed for later this year. Fight ’em up fans are dancing in the streets, or damn well should be. We shouldn’t be batting an eye at this sort of thing anymore since PSP is obviously capable of great things. Even so news of Tekken 6 coming to the handheld seems preposterous given that fans are nervous of Namco Bandai’s latest versus-powerhouse making it onto Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in one piece. Namco Bandai has previously surprised everyone with an outstanding conversion of Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection. We have faith. Meanwhile… An all-new Soulcalibur game is being prepped for PSP. The weapons-based fighter is consistently superb on console, lauded by tournament players for its integrity although never quite grabbing the mass market it so desperately craves. According to US gaming website GameSpot there will be no Star Wars gimmickry for Soulcalibur Broken Destiny on PSP – no Yoda or Darth Vader, or Spawn or whomever. Nope, Namco Bandai is introducing its own new character “Dampierre” who’ll join returning Soulcalibur legends Siegfried, Mitsurugi, Voldo, Astaroth, Tira, Taki, Ivy, Cassandra, and Hilde. Both games will support local Wi-Fi multiplayer modes. No release date for Tekken 6 but Ubisoft is reported to have Soulcalibur lined up for summer.
