Modern Warfare 2 ‘Prestige’ edition sells out [X360]

Friday August 21, 1:51 PM Modern Warfare 2 ‘Prestige’ edition sells out

You may well need special glasses in order to locate the Modern Warfare 2 ‘Prestige’ edition come launch day – one retailer is already reporting that the night vision goggles-equipped bumper box has already sold out.

HMV has exclusive rights to the £120 Prestige pack in the UK, but has already sold all its allocation on pre-orders alone – the Xbox 360 version went first, apparently. Meanwhile the game soldiers on towards its blockbusting launch on November 10th, and the rest of us may just have to settle for the cheaper ‘Hardened’ edition (RRP £69.99 – no goggles or that big grey head-thing) or the bog-standard game-in-a-box (RRP £54.99 but a tenner cheaper if you shop around).

That is unless HMV is able to magic some extra stock out of thin air, as they’re currently trying to do. Don’t hold your breath for that, though – the game’s developers, Infinity Ward, have said all along that they want the Prestige edition to be a strictly limited, hardcore fans-only affair.

With all that in mind we recommend you keep an eye on the relevant HMV pages, pushing the 'F5' button to refresh the screen every 2 seconds or so, in the vain hope that new stock turns up. Well, that’s what we’ll be doing. Press... Dammit! Press... Dammit! Press...
