Anything that extends the many pleasures of Fable II is a good thing. Certainly in our book, and most definitely now that the Knothole Island expansion pack has just been given the Xbox LIVE ‘Deal of the Week’ treatment.

800 Microsoft Points used to be the asking price, but the add-on can now be picked up for a slender 560 Points instead. That’s just £4.80-ish, or 32 and a half whole percents off the usual price tag. But you’d best be quick as we daresay it’ll go back up seven days hence.

So, what thrills does Knothole Island hold in store for the unwary Fable fan? Well, there’s a trip to the Bowerstone docks where you’ll meet a jolly sailor called Gordon who festoons you with gifts in order to entice you into his submarine. Erm...

If that sounds like the makings of a particularly terrifying public information film, the Knothole Island pack also comprises a sizeable new gameplay area that’s chock with new adventures, creatures, clothes, potions and rare weapons. It’s also a feast for the peepers and is excellent fun throughout, as you might reliably expect. So go get it!
