Japan's Virtual Console launch line-up: Envy is a sin...

Wednesday November 1, 01:49 PM

We’ve only just listed the games comprising our Wii Virtual Console line-up when we spot that the Japanese equivalent has just been announced, and – gah! – we’d have to say that it’s better than ours too! Maybe it’s all just a case of the grass being greener and that our Japanese counterparts are actually reading our launch list this morning through eyes stinging with bitter tears. But somewhow we doubt it.

Here’s what they’ll be downloading come launch day. Notice the killer quality Super NES titles on offer?:

NES
Gradius
Legend of Kage
Five-in-a-Row
Ninja Jajamaru-kun (dunno this one)
Xevious

Super NES
Street Fighter II
Super Castlevania IV
Super Mario Picross
Contra III
Donkey Kong Country
Fire Emblem
The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past
R-Type III
Super Mario World

Megadrive
Shadow Dancer

TurboGrafx-16
Adventure Island
Bomberman 94
Battle Lode Runner
Necromancer

And all of that is apparently in addition to the game's we've already listed for UK launch. But that's not the end of it - Japan will pay just 600 Wii POints for the Mega Drive selections (we pay 800) and favourable exhange rates mean that the precious Points will cost 'em less in the first place. Ach! The grass really is greener after all...
