Nintendo teams up with Wallace & Gromit studio [DS]

Thursday September 10, 11:24 AM Nintendo teams up with Wallace & Gromit studio

Nintendo has palled-up with Wallace & Gromit creators, Aardman, to produce twelve short animations using the Flipnote Studio software for DSi.

Aardman’s own ‘rising star’, Tim Ruffle, is running the project, kicking things off with a short movie called ‘The Sandwich Twins’. It’ll be available to download and view and via the Flipnote site from September 16th, with other exclusive animations following on a weekly basis in the run-up to Xmas.

“I had a lot of fun making these,” says Ruffle. “Flipnote is so simple to use that it’s easy to make short, fun animations – but there’s a surprising amount of features there too, meaning you can make your creations more complex as your confidence grows. Budding animators will find this a great way to get creative!”

He’s not kidding either – a brief goosey-gander at the official Flipnote site reveals a large number of super-slick animations, all made by regular punters using nothing more the freebie software and a little imagination. Check flipnote.hatena.com for inspiration, then head to the DSi Shop to grab this killer app asap.
