Super Star Wars heads a trilogy of LucasArts games bound for the Wii’s Virtual Console service. This is a good thing, people... Super Star Wars first graced the SNES back in 1992 and broadly followed the plot of the movie, albeit retold with side-scrolling visuals and lots of platforms for your pixellated heroes to jump around on. It was definitely good stuff for its time, though, and was soon followed up by two excellent sequels - Super Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back in ’93 and, yup, Super Star Wars: Return of the Jedi a year after that. Anyway, all of the above are heading to Virtual Console shortly, the original game already having launched in the US for 800 Wii Points. Not bad, eh! But wait, there’s more. It seems that LucasArts has developed a taste for flexing its portfolio lately. Set aside the recent Steam/iPhone revival of The Secret of Monkey Island and the Tales of Monkey Island episodes on Wii/PC, the publisher is also making promising noises about bringing “additional classic LucasArts games” to Wii in the future – fingers crossed a not too distant one. Much more soon, we suspect.
