Good news, we think, for fans of wartime blasters - the original Call of Duty is back on parade, this time for next-gen consoles. And that’s noteworthy in itself, since Infinity Ward’s iconic shooter was a PC exclusive when it first launched at the back end of ’03. Okay, N-Gage too, but it’s probably best that we overlook that monstrosity. Shudder… Anyway, the really big news this time around, apart from the new formats, is the means of delivery. You see, according to a listing on the PEGI ratings website the game is coming via Xbox LIVE and the Playstation Network. The 16+ rating still stands, though. Well, Activision, the game’s original publishers, have certainly been keeping this one under their helmets. Let’s see it they dish the release date and pricing details now that the cat’s out of the bag. It’ll be interesting to see if the visuals are given a bit of spit and polish too (PC shots shown here). Either way this is a great opportunity to revisit the game that redefined a genre and knocked Medal of Honor off its perch. Make sure you take it - and that’s an order!
