Videogame of the TV series is coming to consoles and PC from 15 September. The Galactic Republic needs you in this latest LucasArts blockbuster. However you don’t always need to play the hero throughout the 30 or so missions comprising Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes – you can become a Jedi Knight or Clone Trooper against the backdrop of a brand new storyline written especially for the game. Events lead up to those taking place in the second season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, soon to air on Cartoon Network. Krome Studios is handling the Xbox 360 PS3, Wii, PS2, PSP, and PC versions of the game. Meanwhile it’s LucasArts Singapore applying the magic touch to Nintendo DS. The latter is more closely based on events from season one, however, but will include the usual DS tricks and flicks. Skakoan super villain Kul Teska is at the centre of all campaigns, and players will also get closer to bounty hunter Cad Bane. Force powers are gleefully celebrated with Jedi masters Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano, Mace Windu, and Kit Fisto listed as playable characters from the off. In addition to running along walls and throwing objects around using the power of the mind, Jedi characters have the use of numerous vehicles and instruct droids to do their bidding – solving puzzles or for back up in a fire fight. It’ll be tempting to join the dark side however as Clone Troopers whose rocket launchers and thermal detonators cause major upset. Wannabe Jedi Knights and Clone Troopers can fight co-operatively or compete for bonus items with a friend to upgrade their characters. 15 September is not so far, far away.
