Charts: Board and Wiiry of Wii Fit

Tuesday April 28, 09:04 AM

It’s a fourth consecutive week at the top for the seemingly unstoppable Wii Fit. Good grief, haven’t you all got a copy yet?

Apparently not. And Wii Fit very obviously still has the legs to see off all manner of fresh-faced rivals. Last week it was The Godfather II and this week it’s The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Athena.

Well, that makes a grand total of 13 weeks in the hotseat for Nintendo’s elaborate tea tray – nine of those have been in 2009 too. Furthermore, as Chart Track are quick to point out, Wii Fit now looks set to take on the all-time record held by ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’, which managed 18 weeks at number one between late 2000/early 2001. The way things are going, and mindful of the release schedule over the next couple of months, we wouldn’t bet against it happening either.

So, no chart-topping debut for Mr. Diesel. He won’t be happy about that, but Number Two isn’t too scruffy, and at least Riddick is the only brand new entry on this week’s countdown. Otherwise the current top ten is chock with yawnsome non-movers and the remaining new faces are all old games getting a second wind – Left4Dead being the highest-placed at 28. Beyond that the only noteworthy event is the semi-dramatic fall from grace for Street Fighter IV, from ten to 21. In its place Dr. flipping Kawashima. Sheesh...:
