You could spend a lifetime considering the inner workings of the Sony PR and Marketing machine, and wondering why, time and time again, they’ll steadfastly deny some PlayStation-related story or other only for it to come true. Such was the case with the PS3 Slim, and it’s happening all over again with the 250GB bundle packs that are rumoured to be coming to Europe shortly.

According to various ‘sources’ there’s a trio of bundles heading our way – one each for Gran Turismo 5, Assassin’s Creed II and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves – and all featuring a 250GB PS3 Slim. Sony’s denied the existence of all three, of course. And that’s in spite of persistent industry rumours and pictorial evidence more or less proving the case.

So, notwithstanding any further Sony foolishness, here are the current ‘facts’: First up, a bona-fide listing with the US Federal Communications Commission reveals that Sony has been testing a 250GB hard drive PS3. In the second instance several gamesbiz sources are reporting that the bundles will be limited in number but may start arriving as early as next month – a £299 price point has been mooted too. It all looks kosher enough to us. We guess the arrival of the 250GB Xbox 360 bundle (as officially announced yesterday) may yet influence Sony’s thinking too. Meantime they’re still sticking to their all-too familiar denial routine. Yawn...
