There’s something for everyone on Microsoft’s Leipzig stand, which you can take to mean they’re still trying to crack the mainstream gamer egg with titles like Scene It? Box Office Smash. The remaining roster does look pretty splendid, though. Check it out: Lips Fable II Too Human You’re in the Movies Scene it? Box Office Smash Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise Halo Wars Grand Theft Auto IV Well do you think all that constitutes a “strongest ever line-up”? We guess that depends on your point of view. But for our money and based on what others have displayed thus far we’d say it’s a small but better than decent showing - especially from a company that was coyly downplaying the importance of Leipzig recently. The sly old dogs…
Microsoft’s attempt to steal some of SingStar’s thunder features disco-tastic microphones that light up in time with the music and respond to player motions. Extra choons are downloadable from Xbox LIVE and players can even sing/dance along to songs from their own collections. Developed by Guitaroo Man’s Keiichi Yano, no less, and arriving Xmas 08.
Surely one of the most anticipated games for Xbox 360? It’s looking like Lionhead’s magnum opus will be worth the wait too, with every decision impacting on storyline development and influencing the fate of your heroic avatar. Hits on October 24th. Start saving.
Another biggie, although recent previews have been a little disparaging. Nevertheless this epic action/RPG should please those in the market for a larger, more involving quest. It’s out next week too.
One aimed at the masses, we suspect. That said we’re intrigued at the prospect of using the Xbox LIVE Vision camera to insert yourself into a selection of fun movie scenarios. A November 2008 release is scheduled.
New questions, puzzles, movie clips, Xbox LIVE gameplay and downloadable question packs should all work to elevate this second instalment above its lacklustre predecessor. That’s the theory, but Buzz has got it beat in our book. It’s out November 2008 if you‘re interested.
Rare’s daffy adventure game lets players design their own vehicles and even race/share them online. Irresistible stuff, yet not quite the kind of thing you expect to see on Xbox 360. Release still TBA, frustratingly.
This great looking sequel features two extra environments - arctic and desert - new creatures to attract and nurture, four-player gameplay, online features and a spoof talent show called the ‘P Factor’ (geddit?). Fingers crossed it gets the attention it deserves this time. Available from September 5th.
Back in the realm of what you might term more typical 360 fodder Halo Wars treats the popular franchise to a real-time strategy-style makeover - and with impressive results. “Elaborate” online modes via Xbox LIVE are promised. Can’t wait.
Microsoft nearly slipped this one under the radar, but the first of the 'exclusive' downloadable episodes will be available through Xbox LIVE from this autumn. I.e any time now if this crappy weather prevails.
