Are Wii shortages incoming yet again this festive season? At least one US retailing giant reckons so. The giant in question is GameStop, whose CEO Dan DeMatteo is already pessimistic, to say the very least: “I've never seen this type of demand before. I know they're making more, but we're still short like everybody else. I think we’ll have a continued shortage this Christmas,” he moans to gamedaily. “I don't see a near-term end in sight for Wii shortages, not unless they really ramp up supply.” But ramp up supply Nintendo certainly has in recent months - by as much as 20% according to many accounts. Yet GameStop - the world’s largest video game and entertainment software retailer, lest we forget - is still feeling the pressure. It doesn’t exactly inspire confidence for our own stock allocations this coming holiday season, does it? So that’s a gloomy picture for a windy Wednesday. Sorry ‘bout that. Our advice if you’re in the market for a Wii is to pay attention to the hand-scribbled notes pasted into high street shop windows declaring new stock arrivals and buy early to avoid the misery of disgruntled relatives and angry children come Christmas morning. Here endeth the public service announcement.
