Heads up casual gamers, Sony is about to unleash extra content for the games you love to play. That’s Buzz! Quiz TV and Singstar, just in case you’d forgotten. Not enough questions in your life? Can’t help, y’know, answering things? Then, boy, there’s a treat for you in Buzz! Quiz TV Special Edition on PS3. This gold-embossed collector’s ed of Sony’s long running interactive quiz ‘em up features a cool thousand extra questions on top of the 5000 already in the game. This includes 500 dedicated specifically to the wonderful world of video games - which we’d beat you at, obviously - and an all-new round about African wildlife that’s been devised by the boffins at National Geographic magazine, with all the stunning photographs of elephants and monkeys entailed therein. Top stuff, no? Verily yes we say! And there’s more in the box too, including a bunch of extras previously available on the Playstation Network - four extra characters, trophies, a useful quickstart mode and ten flipping hilarious (probably) buzzer noises. There’s Playstation Eye camera compatibility too, allowing users to gurn horribly when the moment arises. Add to that online gameplay, numerous online multiplayer modes and four new wireless buzzers and you’ve more steaming-hot quiz action than you’re ever likely to be able to wave a stick at. It’s out early November. Moving on and there’s tons of fun for the hopeful warblers among you, as the trillion-selling SingStar franchise expands yet again. SingStar Pop Vol. 2 for PS2 features, as the name suggests, more of the sort of thing that made Vol. 1 such a hoot. In this case 30 bona-fide smashers from the likes of Maroon 5, Fergie, Avril Lavigne, Gwen Stefani and the ubiquitous Rihanna. The usual array of single/multiplayer gameplay options are included as is the disc-swap feature that allows players to seamlessly access earlier iterations in the series. The game’s available as a disc-only option or a bundle containing two USB microphones too. You can’t possibly resist, reckons Sony. But if the above is not quite floating your dinghy SingStar Country and Singstar Legends are also imminent. The latter including a more mature selection of ditties from artistes of world renown such as Tina Turner, Marvin Gaye and, er, Nirvana. More on all that soon, we daresay. Finally, The PS3 version of SingStar is not to be overlooked in all this new song-related madness, and October brings SingStar Vol. 2 (how do they make these names up?) which features a similarly diverse array of tunes from the likes of Paramore, Eminem, Pink and, just for you sensitive types, Radiohead. So there you have it. Price and precise release date info for all new SingStar variants as detailed above is still TBC. This is a Sony announcement, after all. Oh well...
