Gore Verbinski will direct and produce the movie of blockbuster FPS BioShock while the services of The Aviator are being secured. Universal Studios will produce the movie of Take-Two’s Xbox 360 and PC first-person shooter BioShock. The deal is said to be the biggest relating to videogames-turned-movies, worth more to Take-Two than the Universal deal with Microsoft for Halo. News broke courtesy of Variety over the weekend with an official Take-Two release not far behind. Variety quoted renowned Hollywood director Verbinski as saying: “I think the whole utopia-gone-wrong story that's cleverly unveiled to players is just brimming with cinematic potential. Of all the games I've played, this is one that I felt has a really strong narrative. Variety also suggests that scriptwriter John Logan is onboard, best known for the Leonardo DiCaprio flick The Aviator on the life of Howard Hughes. In the official Take-Two statement Christoph Hartmann, President of 2K Games, says: "BioShock fans appreciate the depth and complexity of the game, and our partnership with Gore Verbinski will introduce the world of Rapture to an even wider audience. In addition to his impressive body of work, Gore is an avid video gamer and true fan of BioShock. That was extremely important to us in deciding to move forward with this project." See how the nice weather makes everyone so happy. Take-Two reaffirms that a BioShock sequel is due 2009.
