Gears of War 2 due November [X360]

Thursday February 21, 08:36 AM Gears of War 2 due November

Gears of War sequel unveiled. You’ll be playing GOW2 this November. Developers are said to be “amped”.

Gears of War 2 will be “bigger, better and more badass” than its predecessor, according to outspoken lead designer Cliffy B at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) underway in the US. He also enthused how his team at Epic were, “So amped to get to the next chapter, and dig deeper into the universe of this franchise.” GOW2 is being made exclusively for Xbox 360; you won’t see this on PlayStation 3 for as long as Xbox 360 shall live. You’ll probably see it on PC though, but not until after Christmas. Anyway, Gears of War 2 this November. Tick-tock…

Thrill seekers will also be glad to learn that Ninja Gaiden II is looking more intriguing by the month. The game’s producer unveiled a new feature dubbed Ninja Cinema, which uses Xbox LIVE to share recorded action sequences from within the game. Ninja Gaiden II is still on track for release in June.

Also during this Microsoft variety show, BAFTA award winning Brit Peter Molyneux showcased multiplayer features of Fable 2. This is the long-awaited sequel to the 2004 Xbox RPG that will boast stronger emotional content such as a character’s unconditional love for another person, animal or maybe even thing. Dynamic co-operative gameplay is the latest unveiling for Fable 2, and Molyneux also surprised everyone by announcing Fable 2 Pub Games for download via Xbox LIVE Arcade ahead of Fable 2’s street date. All your prize winnings from these pub games can be transferred into the main game when you get it home “later this year.” Hmmm.

Microsoft’s GDC event was wrapped up with another look at Too Human, and a handful of forthcoming Xbox LIVE Arcade titles. The latter include: Castle Crashers (The Behemoth) – a four-player action-RPG from the makers of Alien Hominid; Defense Grid: The Awakening – a tower defence game (?); Go! Go! Break Steady – a break-dance puzzle game (??); Braid – a time-bending platform game (…), and finally, our favourite, Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness – an RPG set in the 1920s, that’ll be released in a series of comedy episodes. Or at least we’re guessing they’ll be comedic, given the Penny Arcade angle.

So that’s your lot from GDC. Gears of War 2 will be ours this November. Hooah!
