COD4 Beta cheaters banned [X360]

Wednesday September 5, 4:36 PM COD4 Beta cheaters banned

You’ve seen the awesome screens. Chances are you’ve had your brain melted by the incredible video trailers that are currently doing the rounds too. Whatever the case we’re certain that you’re desperate to play Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and by any means necessary...

There’s an Xbox 360 COD4 beta test on in the States right now, where the number of players interested in joining the test has rather outstripped the actual number of places available. Thus some have resorted to the underhand but entirely understandable practice of ‘account sharing’ – sneakily circumnavigating any such devices as unique access tokens and allowing users to get the Beta running on as many of their mates’ 360s as possible. You can’t blame them for trying – have you seen it?

Anyhoo, Microsoft has decided that enough is enough and has slapped a mighty 99,999 MS Points price tag (about £850) on anyone who tries to download the Beta from Xbox Live without a valid redemption code. Ooyah!

Well, we guess it’s a bit like bolting the stable door after the horse has already legged as far as the US is concerned, but it stands as a fair, if not somewhat draconian warning that such behaviour won’t be tolerated if/when the European beta ever launches. Charlieoscardelta.com (the official COD4 site) promises that there’ll be news about beta tokens for international players next week, so stay tuned.
