Xbox 360 sales have more than doubled across Europe since the recent price cuts, shouts Microsoft. An increase of 214 percent, to be super precise.

However the biggest statistic as far as MS is concerned has to be the one from Chart-Track indicating that the 360 has been outselling the Playstation 3 at a rate of 2:1 over the last couple of weeks. Eat that, Sony!

Doubtless Sony will respond in one form or another in the fullness of time - possibly through crowd-pleasing price cuts of its own or by outlasting all its rivals and maintaining the PS3 as a viable force into the next, next generation of consoles. Until either of those slightly inevitable outcomes the glory is all Microsoft’s, as they’re all too ready to trumpet:
