Girls get Boogie special edition for Wii

Friday June 27, 8:53 AM Girls get Boogie special edition for Wii

We guess that it’s okay to enjoy this if you’re a guy too, but EA’s latest song and dance experience is billed a girls’ night only.

Rihanna, Fergie, Alicia Keys, Good Charlotte, Maroon 5 and Kanye West are among the line-up of stars bringing more than 70 songs to EA’s “Boogie SuperStar”, exclusively for Nintendo Wii this October. The thinking behind the game is to bestow upon young girls the thrill of singing and dancing their way to superstardom. They’ll achieve this by performing dance moves monitored by the motion-sensing Wii remote (sadly not on the Wii Fit Balance Board), and singing into a bundled-in microphone. If your bank balance and ears can handle it, there’s also a four-player mode included so that girlfriends can sing and dance as a troupe or versus each other in sing-offs.

At the start of the game, the would-be wannabe gets to create a character that is magically ‘discovered’ and then flown to a secret island to be trained for success. The island has its own dance studio, a poolside stage and a yacht for chilling. Thus prepped, the star in the making must audition before a panel of judges in the Boogie Star Show. Apparently EA will soon announced its featured artist who will represent Boogie SuperStar in the multi-million dollar marketing campaign: “a chart-topping, global music sensation who will help promote Boogie SuperStar.”

Soon as we know who this is, we’ll parade them before you. Meantime keep singing in the shower and shuffling around the living room in your slippers because you never know when you’ll be discovered.

Until October…
