Unseemly scenes and general argy-bargy in Argos may be a thing of the past now that Nintendo seems to have increased production of it’s perennially hottest-ticket item, the Wii. At least that’s the story according to ever-smilin' NOA boss, Reggie Fils-Aime, who tells the LA Times: "We’re now producing 2.4 million units a month worldwide. Last year, we made 1.6 million a month. So we’ve made a 33 percent increase." Well that’s good news, isn’t it. Better still if Nintendo manages the other minor miracle of working out their distribution so that every territory gets an appropriate share of the bounty. Elsewhere in the same interview Fils-Aime puts the production increases into a more readily understandable context: “One of our competitors projects they will sell 10 million consoles worldwide this year,” he says. “For us, that’s three months of production.” Careful now, Reg. Nobody likes a showoff.
