PS2 rises while PS3 and PSP fall [PS3]

Thursday July 30, 6:27 PM PS2 rises while PS3 and PSP fall

Strange but true; Sony’s elder statesman console is striding ahead of its younger counterparts, price points becoming an issue.

According to the latest official Sony figures, PlayStation 2 is now outselling PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable (PSP). During the first fiscal quarter of 2009, PS2 sales have risen from 1.5 million to 1.6 million. Meantime PSP sales have dropped from 3.7 million to 1.3 million, and Sony is blaming this as one of the main reasons for a 38.7 billion loss across Sony Networked Products & Services. PlayStation 3 has dipped 1.6 million to 1.1 million year on year. That's not quite so bad, but still travelling in the wrong direction.

About time we saw that price cut happen.
