The publishers of Prince of Persia and HAWX are targeting RTS gamers next with an entirely new brand: R.U.S.E. No explanation has been offered for the acronym, so we’ll need to figure that out later. But in the meantime R.U.S.E. promises to engage our brains like never before in real-time strategy for Windows PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Ubisoft says it will publish the game sometime within the next 12 months (before the end of this financial year). R.U.S.E. is being created by Paris based Eugen Systems, best known for its “Act of War: Direct Action” strategy game from 2005. This latest project is all about bluffing opponents into making decisions that will play into your hands. Consequently the game relies on the very latest in artificial intelligence technology, boosted on PC by being optimised for the new Intel Core i7 processor. Another major benefit of so much power is the visual trick of being able to zoom in or out from the battlefield using something Eugen has dubbed the ‘IRISZOOM Engine’.
