Okami Launch Special: Day Two

Friday June 13, 11:06 AM Okami Launch Special: Day Two

A thrilling new adventure game is released today for Nintendo Wii – Okami, from the famous Capcom studios. Okami is ingenious to play and amazing to behold, which is why Yahoo! UK has teamed up with Capcom and Nintendo to offer you chance of winning a Wii console plus a copy of Okami to enjoy. Between now and next Wednesday you’ll learn why Okami deserves your attention in a series of five Special Features.

Today let’s look at how you’ll paint new life into worlds where evil drained it all away. We have an exclusive video for you, showing what’s known as the Celestial Brush creating pathways for the heroine to walk along, and drawing a sun in the sky to light the way. But there are more uses for the Celestial Brush as you’ll read here.

Our heroine is an enigmatic white wolf, in fact the embodiment of Japanese sun goddess Amaterasu. Early in her quest to restore life back to the world, Amaterasu encounters a wandering artist named Issun. By combining their powers Issun and Amaterasu summon the Celestial Brush, which players can then manipulate as though it were real via the motion-sensing Wii remote.

This Celestial Brush introduces a unique way to solve puzzles throughout Okami. In the video you’ll see a fishing rod magically sprout its line, a water wheel attaches itself to the side of a mill, and a broken bridge repaired among many more dazzling examples of the Celestial Brush in action. Simply pointing the Wii remote at the screen and gesturing the required strokes transforms the world before your eyes.

After the weekend we’ll show you how the Celestial Brush can also be used to defend Amaterasu in battle, finding cunning new ways to defeat similarly scheming foes. But of course you don’t need to wait until Monday to discover just how magical Okami really is, because you can head out to buy the game released today!

If you would like to win a Nintendo Wii and copy of Okami simply remind our friends at Capcom about the vocation of Amaterasu's new friend Issun:

a) Tele-Sales
b) Window Cleaner
c) Artist
