We’ve given up trying to understand the Japanese software charts. For weeks now Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G has been selling by the stadium-load, and PSP sales have belittled those of rival consoles as a result. This week it’s a bunch of madcap new entries with über-long names, a PSP baseball game at number one and dear old Monster Hunter is at last on the slide. Go figure! If only our buying habits were so lively, eh? Or diverse – there’s no over-riding theme to report here, except, that is, the bewildering absence of any of the ‘proper’ next-gen consoles from this week’s top ten. Indeed it’s pretty much DS, PSP, PS2 and Wii all the way. No bad thing, we think, but still a bit, y’know, weird. Anyway here’s how it all looks for the week ending June 1st, according to Media Create. The second figure is total sale to date. Enjoy!: 1. Powerful Pro Baseball Portable 3 (PSP) – 117,000 / NE
2. Endless Frontier: Super Robot Wars OG Saga (DS) – 98,000 / NE
3. Mario Kart Wii (Wii) – 50,000 / 1,367,000
