The Buzz! series of quizzes rank among the more fun and, dare we say, mass market friendly applications on PS2 and will surely cause a major stir on PS3 when it arrives. Until that happy day comes around we have a brand new PSP version to look forward to, As Sony’s just announced. Yeah, that’ll do nicely… There’s not an awful lot to know, really – it’s Buzz! On PSP, innit? Nevertheless a quick gander at the features in store reveals that the handheld version packs in a very respectable 5000 questions, with topics including TV, music, sport, science, nature, movies, general knowledge and, yawn, celebrities. There are 1000 pictures and video clips bundled in too. The main game is based around 15 quiz challenges including six new round types that, we’re assured, have been designed specifically for the PSP. In the name of calling a spade a spade they’re given flipping obvious titles like Quickfire Challenge and Picture This, although we’re scratching our heads wondering what the ‘Virus’ round is all about. Outside of that Buzz! PSP offers a trio of multiplayer modes too. Game Share allows four mates to connect up ad-hoc-stylee and play using just one copy of the game. Next up Quiz Host mode allows up to six players to play, with one taking the part of the grinning host, controlling the action and awarding/deducting points as they see fit. Finally Pass Around sees players sharing the same unit attempting to trip each other up by, as the name suggests, passing around the trickiest questions. Buzz! For PSP sounds rather good, we think – as sizeable as its big brother, if not actually a bit more generously stuffed. Sony is unhelpfully talking about a spring release, so keep an eye out for it any time from March 1st. In the meantime here are a few screens to get semi-excited about.
