Damn, blast and oh well… Epic Games’ VP, Mark Rein, has officially confirmed that there will be no pre-release taster of the hugely promising Unreal Tournament 3 on PS3. Gah! We're getting a bit too used to such disappointments where the PS3 is concerned, which is a bit of a shameful realisation, isn’t it? But every cloud has a silver lining etc. and while PS3 owners mope into their skinny mochaccinos and watch the dust gather on their machines the PC crowd has every reason to feel cheerful – they’re getting a demo before the game ships. If that seems a bit, y’know, unfair it’s because PC development is, as Rein puts it, “Easier”, whereas with complicated next-gen consoles such as the PS3 the extra time spent programming means we can either have the demo now and the game next year or just the game on schedule instead. Guess we all know what we’d prefer, eh? So there it is, straight from the horse’s mouth. Not that we’re suggesting Mr. Rein is in any way equine. Unreal Tournament 3 is out for PC and PS3 in November. Xbox 360 early in 2008. It looks amazing, although we’re starting to wonder about Epic’s apparent fetish for chunky space marines…
