XBLA triple demo madness [X360]

Friday March 6, 11:41 AM XBLA triple demo madness

Three excellent demos to tempt, taunt and tantalise on Xbox LIVE Arcade today. Ooh, choices, choices…

If we’re honest we never thought the week would come where we’d be greedily downloading two demos featuring the hulking likeness and vocal gruffness of Mr Vincent Diesel. But it’s here, and hot on the heels of the recently released Riddick sampler comes Tigon’s adaptation of the forthcoming Wheelman movie. Against our admittedly limited expectations it looks like an absolute laff-riot too - leaping in and out of cars, jumping onto high-powered motorbikes, blasting the bejaysus out of bad guys and generally stunting your way around the open world highways, byways and subways of a gloriously realised Barcelona. Fingers crossed Wheelman is even a fraction as much fun as it looks.

Wanted: Weapons of Fate should be worthy of your attention too. It’s based on the James MacAvoy-starring movie but, crucially, imagines the events that unfold one hour after this tale of superhuman assassins ends. More promising, the game is developed by GRIN, the same bunch responsible for Bionic Commando: Rearmed and the PC versions of Ghost Recon 1 and 2. In short, how bad can Wanted be? There’s only one way to find out…

Finally, and for fans of the grapple genre, a sure thing: Legends of Wrestlemania. Dumb as a box of owls, THQ’s game features 42 of the WWE’s brightest stars present, past and properly ancient. Thus it should be perfectly possible for, say, Shawn Michaels to square up against the long-deceased Andre the Giant. There are three main game modes (Relive, Rewrite and Redefine) and gameplay is apparently more arcade-styled - i.e. it‘s simpler.

All the demos are available on Xbox LIVE right now. We’ll take all three, cheers.
