Red Alert PS3 demo sighted [PS3]

Tuesday March 10, 05:52 PM Red Alert PS3 demo sighted

The official US Playstation Blog has spoken, and it says that a PS3 demo of Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Ultimate Edition is imminent. Ooh, good…

"...we have been hard at work on a demo, and it should be available for download in a couple of weeks. We sincerely hope that all of you download the demo and try out the Ultimate Edition of Red Alert 3; we know you will not be disappointed,"says the game’s senior development director, David Seeholzer.

It’s all good so far but the PS3 demo’s just the start of the incoming RA3 goodness, as the corporately-speaking Mr. Seeholzer continues:

We also have plans to release live DLC post ship through the PS Store as well. We strongly believe in product support especially after ship, and we have a team here dedicated to releasing new maps, missions, units, and other content for the PLAYSTATION 3. The team is hard at work on the first of what we hope will be many DLC packages for RA3: Ultimate Edition.”

At which point he casually mentions a map pack that should be available close to the game’s launch and which features new skirmish maps for on and offline play. Very nice!

So what’s ultimate about the Ultimate Edition? Er, the price tag for starters - around £39.99 versus the £17 or so you’d expect to shell out for the PC original. After that you’re looking at the brilliant RTS game in full, plus “a ton of bonus content”. This includes developer strategy videos, the soundtrack, five new skirmish maps, Behind the Scenes and Blooper extras and a Women of RA3 featurette. That alone will be worth the asking price, right?

Well, maybe. Either way the game’s out in the UK on March 27th. We’ll let you know when the demo date is confirmed.
