Nintendo seems to have been able to bring enough new Wii Fit stock into the country to claim this week’s number one, yet the product itself – at least as far as we’ve been able to see – is entirely invisible in retail. How do they do it, we wonder? Sleight of hand? Creative accounting? Wanton bribery? More likely it’s the result of the still-insane public demand and huge unfulfilled pre-orders, which means that those few copies of the game that do trickle onto the shelves are greedily snapped up as soon as they appear. If not sooner! Whatever the case Nintendo’s managed to shift sufficient copies to claim another week in the top spot and Wii Fit has even managed to knock Soul Calibur IV off its perch. We’ve no doubt which of the two titles will get the most usage over the longer term, but if you want to spend £70 on a glorified doorstop we won’t stand in your way... Moving on, and the rest of this week’s all format/full price chart is about as static as you might expect for the time of year. Guitar Hero III moves up to four, Wall-E trundles downhill a few places and Beijing 2008 sneaks back in at ten – probably something to do with that big sporting event that’s going on. After that the only new entry in the entire top 40 is Pokemon Diamond. It’s what you might call a slow week. Anyway here’s how the top ten looks. Read it and sleep: 1.
