Spawny Japanese gamers are in line for a trio of Metal Gear Solid 4 value bundles.

Lengthily dubbed the ‘Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Welcome Box’, each pack retails at ¥49,800 (about £240) and comprises a copy of the game plus a Sixaxis controller, 40GB PS3 and a Dualshock 3 wireless controller, all in matching shades of either Clear Black, Ceramic White or Satin Silver – hence the three versions. They’re all available from Japanese/global launch day, June 12th.

Good for them, eh. Alas there’s no sign of any such stonking value pack for we poor Brit gamers – well, can you see Sony UK bundling all that together for such a price? Furthermore, as far as we know, there’s no official word regarding any kind of souvenir edition of the game alone either. However, given the game’s gargantuan sales potential (the series has sold well in excess of 20 million so far), it’s kind of unthinkable that Konami or Sony won’t conjure up a special tin of some description. Pleeease…
