Next Zelda game uses Wii MotionPlus

Shigeru Miyamoto has announced that the next Zelda game on Wii will utilise MotionPlus tech.

Miyamoto breaks this unsurprising news in a recent Q&A sesh in Tokyo, where he reveals that the inclusion of MotionPlus is all about increasing those all-important sensations of reality:

“In this (installment of the series), we’re using MotionPlus to make you feel much more like you’re actually fighting while holding a sword in your hand.”

“In the previous game, you aimed at things by pointing at the screen, but this time we’ll use MotionPlus to create a much more convenient targeting system and a more pleasurable playing experience.”

If Miyamoto gets his way the next Zelda will only work with MotionPlus too, although Nintendo has not confirmed this so far.

So is this a good idea or not? We’ve never had much trouble with targeting or swordplay in Zelda games, but we’d still have to say yes. In the meantime it sounds like Miyamoto and his team are already hard at work on the next game in the evergreen series, and that’s good news indeed...
